Goodix senses pulse of U.S. expansion at CES 2017

LAS VEGAS, NV, Jan. 5, 2017 – Goodix today announced that its Live Fingerprint Detection™ Sensor will be on display at the CES Innovation Showcase at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 5-8, 2017. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories. This is Goodix’s third CES award, after winning two Innovation Awards for IFSTM and Goodix LinkTM exemplifying outstanding design and engineering in 2016.

Fingerprint authentication on leading mobile devices oftentimes is not reliable as claimed. That’s why Goodix designed the world’s first integrated live fingerprint authentication solution, providing unmatched biometric security and live identity protection. As the first Chinese IC company winning the Best of Innovation award in the Embedded Technologies category, Goodix designed the world’s only optical detection system that captures the biometrics of the finger itself combined with heartbeat authentication. The two-factor process first scans to determine whether or not the fingerprint is “live” through the use of Infrared technology, then the fingerprint must match the enrolled template in terms of both fidelity and conductivity. With these biometric capabilities, the sensor is able to detect fake or cloned 2D and 3D fingerprints in the first hardware and software integrated solution. Nowadays, The LFD sensor has been integrated in mainstream mobile phones such as the ZTE AXON7 MAX, Meizu PRO6 Plus and Gionee M2017.

“Just like the PIN passcode before it, the application of fingerprint authentication on mobile devices has become the market norm,” said Dr. Bo Pi, Chief Technology Officer, Goodix. “Given rising consumer concerns around personal privacy and security, Goodix’s live fingerprint detection sensor technology empowers users to trust activities carried out on their mobile devices, such as transactions. With the ability to detect your pulse, the Live Fingerprint Detection™ Sensor also opens a whole new set of use cases in industries spanning fitness, wearables, home, lifestyle and even automotive. ”

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, the producer of CES 2017, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. Goodix’s Live Fingerprint Detection™ Sensor has already been displayed at the CES Unveiled in New York on November 10, 2016 and will be on display at the CES Innovation Showcase at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 5-8, 2017.
